What it’s like to work here

As a member of our development team, you’ll build custom websites, applications, databases, hardware/software integrations, and other technology solutions for businesses and organizations.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with many different types of clients and projects and collaborate closely with Pixo’s UX designers and content strategists. Our clients come from a range of industries — including agriculture, higher education, and health care — and vary in size from small start-ups to multinational corporations.

Day-to-day you’ll work with a consistent group of multidisciplinary teammates in an agile project environment. In addition, the entire engineering team gathers once a week to learn new skills and explore ideas to ensure we’re always improving.

Pixo developers like doing the following

  • Building software as a full-stack engineer using PHP, C#, or JavaScript frameworks.
  • Creating quality software using clean, well-designed, and maintainable code.
  • Implementing best practices for accessibility? (WAI-ARIA, WCAG, etc.)
  • Making code that performs well.
  • Pair programming.
  • Learning about and using a Test Driven Development approach.
  • Working with others that challenge you and can learn from you.
  • Collaborating with clients in a consulting environment.
  • Learning our building automation and Quality Assurance or even application infrastructure like cloud storage, docker, scalability, etc.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience with object-oriented programming skills on the web.
  • Understanding of .NET or HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience creating mobile-first responsive web designs and incorporating the latest techniques.
  • Proficient with distributed revision control systems, ideally Git.
  • Proficient with testing frameworks such as PHPUnit, Jest, and NUnit.
  • Experience consuming distributed content through the use of web APIs and other third-party information sources.
  • Cares deeply about growing as a professional.
  • Team-player who believes that we achieve more together.

Location:

Like all of the Pixo team, this job is remote, work-from-home while our office is closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. When we are able to re-open the office, you would have the option of working in our Urbana, IL office, working from home anywhere in the U.S., or some combination of both. Pixo pays for full-time remote employees to come to our Urbana office at least once a year.

Salary and benefits:

This position ranges from $75,000 to $105,000, depending on experience. We provide profit-sharing, three weeks of PTO to start, 2 weeks of company closure per year, Medical, 401(k) matching, company-sponsored Short-Term and Long-Term Disability insurance, optional dental, vision, and life insurance, an annually set professional development budget, and more.
